Hi all,
must be something simple i'm missing here .........

I have BT Business ADSL with a pre-configure router & fixed IP addressing.
I also have a Linksys wireless Cable router - this is configured DHCP &
correct settings on the WAN port - all works fine browsing etc.

BUT, i get better responses for gaming PC if I run it on BT router
(217.34.x.x). I also want to share the printer connected over the LAN,
which works fine if all PC's are on the same router, but not when spread
over both.

I can ping the def g/w etc & the PC but printer won't connect from DHCP PC
(192.168.x.x).
I have tried turning on 'intelligent routing' or whatecev Linksys calls it &
adding static routes to every available 217.34 address to no avail.

Cisco (Linksys) support suggestion is to run linksys connected PC's in DMZ,
but that defeats the point as I need fixed IP then and I want to run DHCP.

any ideas ??? thx JonMaC

setup:
PC1 & USB printer >>> BT router (fixed 217.34.x.x)
PC2 >>> Linksys router (DHCP 192.168.x.x) >>> BT router

Your setup is unclear. Do you mean you have single static IP address for the
ADSL connection, or a range of static IP addresses (eg a "/29" network)?

Do you mean the Linksys uses DHCP to configure its WAN IP address etc (ie it
is a DHCP client), that its DHCP server is enabled (for LAN clients), or
both?

What do you mean by "better responses"?

I'll get to that when I think I understand your setup...

Routers, by definition, have more than one interface, which normally implies
more than one IP address (ADSL routers in non-NAT mode fudge things
however). It's not clear which interfaces the IP addresses you half specify
apply to.

which suggests its a firewall issue where the Linksys won't allow
Netbios traffic from its WAN to LAN port - tried turning it off

what model router ?
