help! real slow wireless!

For reasons I can't determine, my once flawlessly working wirelss has
bogged down (download of 65k, upload of 165k give or take a little
bit, down from 3mbps download and about 256k upload through comcast).

Here's the equipment: RCA dcm245r cable modem and netgear mr814v2
wireless four port router.

The symptoms: Like I noted above, slow as molasses. However, if I plug
in via my usb port, I get roughly 3mbps download and expected upload
of roughly 256k, and my wife's computer, wired into the same router
gets slightly faster speeds when wired. So, if I go wired through the
wireless router, the speeds are just fine.

When connected wirelessly, I get a signal strength of 11mbps, which is
the max output for the router and the dell true mobile card. Despite
that, the download speeds are only about 65kbps. So, the problem seems
to be somewhere between the modem and the router, but only when going
wireless. Any thoughts or help? I haven't tried netgear because of the
bad support rep and hope you all can help.

By the way, I'm on a Dell Inspiron 4000 running about 800mghz with
256k memory, but the computer doesn't seem to be the problem, at least
as near as I can tell.

TIA

Bradley
