Help with PS3 error: "Attempt to obtain IP address timed out"

I hope I am asking this question correctly and in the proper place. If
not, my apologies.

Here goes:

I have a wireless connection via 2Wire 2700HG and a Dell Inspiron 531
PC.


When I mess with my network settings on my PS3, it scans and finds my
wireless router, but I keep getting this message that says “Attempt to
obtain IP address timed out.” Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Do you have encryption enabled on the 2Wire? If so, temporarily
disable it and see if the PS3 can connect.
