Help: Problem with my DSL modem connection.

Hi there,


I just changed my DSL modem(the old one got problem) and I cannot get
connected to the Internet any more. I use redhat Linux 9.

Does anyone has any idea? What I have to do to slove this problem.

USB, Ethernet, PPPOE?

To 'slove' a problem like that we usually need some more information.

What's the make and model of this thing (the new one)?
What have you tried so far?
What was the result?
Is the power light on?
etc...

The modem name is "speedstea" and this is the message I get:


divert: not allocating divert-blk for non-ethernet
device ppp0
sundance.c: v1.O1+Kl1.06b 6-Nov-2002
witten by Donald Becker

divert: no diver-blk to free, pppo not ethernet

Modem is buy Speedstream.

Given that I don't understand much about the messages above, they
suggest to me that this ADSL "modem" is set to use PPPoE rather than
straight ADSL.

If it's configurable and you expect straight ADSL then configure it for
that, not PPPoE ADSL. Check the specifications for the model you have.
