Given that I don't understand much about the messages above, they
suggest to me that this ADSL "modem" is set to use PPPoE rather than
straight ADSL.
If it's configurable and you expect straight ADSL then configure it for
that, not PPPoE ADSL. Check the specifications for the model you have.
