I just spent most of the night trying to network 2 new windows XP Pro
machines to a Windows NT machine(the server with all the data on it)

They are not hooked up to the internet and were connected by a new linksys
gigabit switch. I could get the 2 XP machines to see each other but
couldn't get them to see the NT machine and vice versa. The networking disk
didn't work in the NT machine.

Could someone please help.

Thanks in advance.

Help yourself.

use the PING command
use the IPCONFIG /ALL command.
Look at the NIC and Switch and see whether their LED are lit, they are
there for a reason, not just to be pretty. Read switch manual if u
don't know what the lights are telling u.

also look at the security settings
What about XP firewall etc.?

Is this a NT Workstation or Server?
is the domain or DNS suffix OK?
