I have an EDUP PCMCIA wireless network card (IEEE802.11b 11Mbps) that I
want to use in my old laptop.

The latptop runs windows 98 and cannot be upgraded to windows XP due to
lack of main memory. I have a driver for this card but I cannot locate
any windows wireless software to support it as W98 does not have
wireless support.

Can anyone point me to where I might find this software, I cannot find
an EDUP web site, I think it is an OEM only manufacturer.

Thanks for any help I get.

You may want to try McAfee's web site and look for their free wireless
client.

Here's what I got on it:

:
:
: Installation
:
: Windows XP / 2000 / ME / 98 McAfee Wireless Security
: Installer <===Download First
:
: Note: To install the McAfee Wireless Security client, click on the
: link above and open the file to run the installer.
:
: Windows XP Guest Client Configuration Wizard
:
: Note: To run the Guest Client Configuration Wizard, click on the link
: above and open the file.
:
: Documentation
:
: Documents reflecting the WSC Guard product represents McAfee Wireless
: Security technology.
: Installation Guide [PDF] <=== Download Second
:
: User Guide [PDF]

Otherwise, there is Buffalo's wireless ClientManager 2 (version 2.1)
that could work with Windows 98. But Buffalo pulled it over a year ago,
so you will have to search for it somewhere else.

Let me know if McAfee's works for you.

Actually it''s a partial 'work', but thanks again anyway.

It does not give signal strength and also I cannot setup the SSID at the
laptop end as the tab required is not enabled?

I found ClientManager 2 but this did not recognise the card.

Ah well, some success, I can now use my laptop remotely but not too sure
about my wireless security.
