If the wireless unit is built in to the computer, not a plug in PC card, you
may find that the hardware switch is one of the "function" keys.
Laptops don't have the full number of keys, so one of the keys will be marked
"Fn", possibly with a box round the letters, and some of the other keys will
have extra characters, also boxed. These are the ones that would be on the
numeric keypad if the keyboard was big enough to have one. (Apologies if you
already know this, but many people never notice these extra functions because
they never have to use them).
If there isn't a little switch on the side of the case for the wireless unit,
look for a symbol looking like a computer with lines next to it (representing
the radio waves I suppose), and try this with the Fn key. On my (Advent)
laptop it's the F2 key, but it could vary.
