Help please...issue with Norton Internet Security 2004

hi,

I've configured the wireless card and network connection for a buddy of mine. It worked fine until I disabled it to install Norton Internet Security 2004 (I've disabled it in order to use the phone registration process). NIS is installed now, but the pc can't connect to the internet anymore (the network is disabled and i can't enable it). What settings should I change in NIS or in Windows? The PC runs on Windows XP (some Hewlett Packard edition, I guess the home edition), has a Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter (came with a cheap flyer, no manual).

any ideas or maybe instructions where to ask someone else?
