My company wants to backup an SQL server, offsite, via the Internet.
Approximately 500MB once weekly, and preferably out of state. Any
suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike C.

Do u mean backup to a remote location from a remote location or just
backup to a local resourse from a remote location. If you want to do
the second...try out RWW/Remote Desktop.

I offer a remote backup service like you asked about. 5GB for $25.99 per
month. One month free if annual.

Use blowfish or AES encryption, your choice. You have the encryption key and
the data is encrypted before being sent, we can't get into the data even if
we want so it is secure.

New version gives you the option of only backing up the changed data and not
the entire file for smaller backups.

Thank you,

got a friend out of state? he got a server?

My immediate thought would be SQL replication. If this was used only changes
to the database (transactions) would be transferred, possibly in real time,
then periodic local backups could occur on the remote server.

just a thought. SQL is not a personal strength, not sure what issues you may
hit.
