Blueyonder " sorry sir cant help you with that, please unplug all your crap
and go back to straight connection to the Modem"

Right this is the setup I Have

netgear FVS318 router firewall
Netgear Wg02 Wireless Access Point
Belkin Notebook network card 54g for my laptop ( want to roam during the
summer, around the house and garden with internet access)

Main Pc has a netgear FA311 10/10 Ethernet card fitted to the modem.

1. start to setup the firewall with the software supplied from Netgear

get to Netgear, setup its asking for

IP address
IP subnet mask
Gateway IP address

run cmd ipconfig, gives me some info

then it request

Primary DNS
Secondary DNS

WHAT!!!! OK lost now, so i do as it asks and go and ask my ISP for the info

phone Blueyonder " sorry sir you don't have a static IP please register as a
business or try Self-care help"

uhhhh!!

What do I need to do to get this working?, at this point I have now downed
half a bottle of Jack Daniels and starting to fell like I have wasted my
money? (thank god for spell checkers)

any help much appreciated

regard

Wayne

Based birmingham UK
Running windows XP Prof
Modem:motorola SB5100

There's an option for dynamic address allocation somewhere - select that
and all yout troubles will be over (maybe) :-)

I'd go with that. Make sure the router is set as a DHCP client.

You may also have to get BY to register the mac address of the router.

To test this concept see if you can change the mac address of the
router to that of the device that does connect ok.

All the best ..
