Not sure where to ask for help on this product but here I go:

I just installed the Virtual Server 2005(sp2) from our Action Pack
subscription on a Windows 2003 server (SP1). It said I had to install
IIS so I did.

After installing I tried to logon to the admin page but I get the
error message "You are not authorized to view this page." I'm the
ADMINISTRATOR on this DC! What the heck do I need to view the page?

There is NOTHING in the documentation on this and I cannot use the
software without this silly app. It's REALLY irritating as I've spent
the better part of the day trying to find help on the WEB on this and
MS's site (useless). All I get is FORBIDDEN and I don't know what.

The only thing I found is that i have to logon with a local account.
It's a DC...there ARE no local accounts! My admin account DOES have
local logon access rights but that doesn't help. I've tried several
accounts and nothing.

Can somebody lend a hand here so I can get this fixed and go home?

(can you tell I'm frustrated???)

Thanks, all for any support.

It is a problem with the security settings in IIS. You are more likely
to get a knowledgable response from the virtual server newsgroup.

microsoft.public.virtualserver

It is there. Are you trying to find it from a web browser or from a
newsreader?

Fran, it is definitely *not* in the web interface list for technet managed
newsgroups. I have no idea how were are supposed to get our questions
answered in this manner in that newgroup. Kind of sucks actually.

I read it every day through Outlook Express. It is not a managed
newsgroup. Are you trying to access it from a browser?

Yes Bill, I read it everyday in OE also. I've met you there. ; )

What I mean is if Fran is a technet plus subscriber and was trying to use
her technet subscriber right to ask a question in the "100,000 newsgroups"
that technet has available to its subscribers (rather than the paltry 13 that
it lists in the web interface) to ensure an actual answer to her question,
she is effectively SOL. As far as technet works, there are only thirteen
topics she can use her technet alias for and get the answer she is looking
for.

If she asks a question outside of those thirteen topics, someone is going to
tell her to go away, with explicit directions as to how to do so.
