Can someone help me with the port forwarding entrys and
anything else needed to setup remote desktop to work with
an MN-700 router. My goal is to be able to access a
specific computer at my house from my office.

A secondary problem is that the computer I want to reach
at home has remote desktop installed, but I do not have
the "allow remote users to connect to this computer"
option to available to select. Whener I try and install
the remote desktop client to fix this problem, it tells me
that it is already installed.

Hi,

Nice to see your posting..!

I read this posting and came with few suggestion to assist you.

There are two types of port forwarding: application-triggered and
persistent.
To run a program that sends and receives data on different ports, you must
set up application-triggered port forwarding.
To host a server on your network, you must set up persistent port
forwarding.

In addition, in certain situations you may want to set up a virtual DMZ
(demilitarized zone) on one of the computers on your network.

Read on for details about these configurations.

"Set Up Port Forwarding"

Let me know if this URL helps you in resolving this issue.

Have a great day...!

Hi,
Remote Desktop requires Port 3389 to be forwarded (persistent).
Putting a computer in the DMZ to enable remote desktop exposes it
completely and is not recommended.

Are you running XP Home or Pro? Home does not support RDP, which may
be your issue.

If you are running Pro (or Tablet, or Media Center):

You need to forward port 3389 to the IP of the computer you wish to
connect to behind the 700 from the 700 admin tool (192.168.2.1)

Hi:

Yes I have XP home. The home version does not allow a
remote connection to it through remote desktop?

That is correct. The major differences between Home and Pro are that remote
desktop hosting is not supported on Home and you cannot log into a domain.
