I have a 4 computer network. One desktop that is
connected by ethernet to a hub; the wireless DSL router
is also connected to the hub as well as a network laser
printer. Two notebooks are connected via wireless cards
to the router and a Media Center PC is also connected via
wireless.
I have ran the network wizard several times on all
machined but continue to have the same issues. I can
connect to the Internet from any of the 4 computers but I
cannot see the other computers on the network. I tried
using the Ping command and can successfully ping the
Media Center computer from any of the other 4 but cannot
successfully ping any of the other 3 computers.
Right now, if I look at My Network Places on the Media
Center the only computer it shows is itself. If I look
at My Network Places and select "view workgroup
computers" on any of the other 3 I get an error
message "workgroup is not available. You might not have
permissions to use this network resource. Contact the
administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. The list of servers for this
workgroup is not currently available." I am logging on
to all the computers as administrator. Is it possibly a
firewall that is blocking me? perhaps in the wireless
DSL modem? I just cannot seem to solve this one.
Thanks,
Charley
