I am in the process of making an cantenna out of an tennis ball can. Where
on the can should drill/install the N-Female connector? How long should the
center-wire element should be?

Thanks,
Jack

What's the diameter of the tennis ball can? About 2.75? It's too small.
(Just like the Pringles can is too small.) Go to
http://www.turnpoint.net/wireless/cantennahowto.html and plug in a diameter
and read the surrounding text. If the can were as big as 2.875 (2-7/8"),
about the smallest that is "theoretically suitable", it would need to be
nearly two feet long and the probe would be installed about 7-5/8" from the
closed end of the can.

David agrees:
"One can see here that a Pringles can at 72mm ID has a rapidly changing and
very long guide wavelength (standing wavelength) of 2863mm, this makes
proper construction impossible. It needs to be larger in diameter in order
achieve a stable and much lower gu"
