I have the MN 500 hardwired to desktop and wireless with
the laptop. I havent had any problems with this for 2
years. Now all of a sudden my laptop cannot get in the
network. The router will not assign it an ip address.
How can I get the router to assign it an address?

Have you tried releasing and renewing your IP address?

Look at the router security/logs for any hints, after you
turn on the laptop.

Check the channel (same on router and card), and try with
channels 1 and 11 (in case there is some interference).

Sometimes it helps assigning a static IP to the laptop.

My security log says this "Connection attempt to base
station from WAN blocked" all the way down the page with
ip addresses with it.

I changed the channels from 1 through 11 and nothing
worked.

Can ya tell me how to assign a static ip? I dont know
what is going on here!

The "Connection attempt to base station from WAN blocked"
are just stating that the firewall on the router is
stopping scans of your computers -- this is normal.

Typically, you should see something like wireless
connection SUCCESS or FAILURE...

Anyway, make sure the wifi card and router are on same
channel, use same SSID, SSID broadcasts are enabled (this
requirement changed with one of the recent upgrades!), and
you are using same WEP key.

To set a static IP, open Network Connections, right-mouse
click on the icon for the wireless connection, open TCP/IP,
and set the IP to 192.168.2.2, mask 255.255.255.0, DNS and
gateway 192.168.2.1. On the router LAN screen change the
DHCP start range to 192.168.2.3.

I just started having the same problem. None of my
computers are recognized by the DHCP server. It worked
fine a couple of days ago. I have tried upgrading the
firmware, resetting the system (Hard and soft) and
disabling and enabling the DHCP server. It's as if the
DHCP server just broke.
