I'm new to networking.

I have a T1 (with a block of 64 ips)that goes to a router,
that goes to a hub,
that goes to a few switches.

t1 -> router -> hub ->->->switches

I would like to place a gateway proxy (squid with dansgardian)
inbetween the router and the hub.

t1 -> router -> proxy -> hub ->->->switches

I can't do policey routing as I'm not supposed to toucth the router
and I need the proxy to be transparent for those, have personal notebook
and dont want to change thier settings. I also dont want to be blamed if
something goes wrong with a personal computer.

I got this to work at home with dsl but a little differently.
modem -> router -> proxy -> lan

so the proxy's eth1 is set to the public ip, and eth0 to the privet ip

My question is: Is it possible to insert the proxy inbetween the router
and the hub? If so, what should my setting be on eth0 and eth1?

TIA.
