Wow, you must really be having a slow day if your only reponse to a
plea for help on a wireless router is to pick on the guy's computer
clock setting.

I'd love to help the OP out but I don't know enough and am following
this thread hoping that someone with more knowledge than I (or
apparently you) have.

Mike

No, his post appears so far down the page due to its incorrect timestamp its
not easily visible, so when scanning for people to help (as I do!), its out
of view and would normally get trashed when "Mark All as Read" clicked.
Luckily I spotted one lost posting ....

Just helping him to get noticed really !

Bulls**t. People with real newsreaders doesn't have it sorted by date
but by thread. Timestamps are irrelevant.

Actually, this neither. This is the internet, location doesn't matter,
and my middle name is an important part of my name.

Advanced newsreaders do not show messages that have already been read
[unless you ask to see them], and sort messages by thread. The threads
might be ordered by the time of the oldest message, but since only
"new" messages are shown, a message with the wrong date is only going
to be "lost" to people who aren't reading messages or marking
uninteresting ones as already read.

In short, it's probably only a problem to people using a WWW browser
as a newsreader. People who read a lot of Usenet usually use tools
that manage the flow of information better. (I used to follow newsgroups
with a combined total of about 3000 postings per day. I've cut down a lot,
to about 500 postings per day.)
