Hi all,

I am very new to networking and wanted to know whether the following was
possible.

PC1 - usb adsl modem and network card
PC2 - network card

can i connect the two machines together with a network cable and get PC1 to
share it's internet connection with PC2.
If so what type of network cable would i need. Someone previously mentioned
a crossover cable.
Also if it is possible how hard is it to setup and where can i get a simple
guide to help me with it.

Please note that i am not bothered whether PC1 needs to be on and connected
for PC2 to work, as PC1 is usually always on.

Thanks in advance

Ravsta

Hi

Yes, the scenario you describe is possible and you'll need to install ICS
for it to work - PC1 (the ICS gateway) will need to be WIN98SE or above for
ICS. You'll also need to use a CAT5 cross-over cable to connect the two PCs
directly. Have a look at www.practicallynetworked.com for an ICS tutorial
and www.homenethelp.com for networking and ICS setup, both are very good
sites.

If you still have problems or questions post again or visit the forums at
