I have the following set up: Netgear WGR614 wireless cable router (using
DHCP 192.168.0.1 to 49) upstairs connected to my main PC (set to auto IP).
D-Link DWL700AP configured as an ethernet bridge (i.e. working as a client)
to an older PC downstairs. The D-link is set up with IP address
192.168.0.50, (PC set to auto IP and connected via ethernet cable). This set
up works fine and I can connect to the net and transfer files over the
network without problem..

I wanted to add a USB print server so I bought a cheap wired router
(Safecom) to use as a switch/print server downstairs, where I have a HP
Deskjet 840. I have changed the fixed IP address of this router to
192.168.0.51 and switched off DHCP. I can connect to the net and transfer
files via the network. Both the D-Link and the PC are connected to the
switch port - the WAN port is not connected.

The print server works on the local PC (connected via cable) but will not
work over the wireless network..

Can anyone give me any ideas? A friend suggested I might need to configure
one of the routers to allow throughput from the print server, but I don't
know what to do..

Thanks guys.

Install the printer on each computer as a *local printer* accessing a
local TCP/IP port. This site provides details.
