I need help choosing a channel.

There are several wireless networks in my neighbourhood that I know about
and possibly others that have disabled their SSID broadcast as I have. My
neighbourhood has alot of townhouses which puts a large number of households
within 802.11g range not to mention a ton of cordless telephones and
microwaves, etc.

On many occasions I have had a difficult time working out the best channel
to use. The xbox network setup tells me "excellent" whatever that really
means, but then I connect onto MechAssault and am told my connection is 2
out 5 and will support only a small number of players connecting to my
server.

Are there any tools available that will help me determine which channel is
going to give me the best bandwidth/least interference? For example, does
the MN-700 maintain error stats that I could see and help me determine the
number of collisions, failed checksums, etc. for a given channel?

Trial and error is frustrating to say the least.

Thanks!

</Kevin>
