Hi,

My OS is Redhat 7.3, kernel 2.4.20.

I can "ping localhost" without any problem.

But it wouldn't work if I replace the localhost to the real IP address.
The error message is "icmp_seq=503 Destination Host Unreachable".

I tried to stop iptable and it doens't help. Neither other machines can
ping this machine.

Thanks

We have a lot of information you might find useful, but you have to provide
information first. YOu have posted no useful information at all.

Post:

1. Output of the command "ifconfig".
2. Contents of file /etc/hosts.
3. Full description of your network.

Thanks for your information. I found that my IP address (DHCP) has been
changed. But the hostname of my PC is still been translated to my old IP
address. That's why I feel so bizzare at beginning.

How to synchronize my hostname with my new IP address (DHCP)? I think
the DHCP server should handle this?

If you want fixed, predictable addresses (clearly so), wehy not just put the
addresses in /etc/hosts on each machine and not use DHCP?

You still are not telling us very much about your system or what you are
trying to accomplish.
