Help with BT Brain-dead-band

Two years ago apply for Broadband. Had a BT techie come around to
install broadband (before self-install days). Fail the whoooooose test
and been on the dial up ever since. Before the techie left he gave me
the test measurements; 5.6km from exchange and 59db on the noise
level, meaning 100 metres too far. Fair enough.

Now that BT has extended the range broadband range to 6km and 60db, I
should in theory once again be back in the amber zone again. So
reapply. No joy! Recording to BT even with the new theshold I am still
in the red zone.

Spoke to BtBroadband - Nothing we can do as the computer won't place
the order

Spoke to BtWholesale - In theory you should be OK but up to ISP to
provide techie call out

Spoke to BT 150 - Nothing to do with us speak to BTBroadband

Spoke to BTBroadband - The new extended service is when your already
enabled exchange is upgraded (???)

Spoke to BTWholesale - No new technology or software required so
therefore no exchange upgrade required

Spoke to the Doctor - Take these three times a day!

What do I want? Confirmation that I can not get broadband before
spending more cash on taking up wireless, satellite, midband, etc.

What do I think? My details are either wrong or having been update

How do I know this? Other users have got vroadband from my green
exchange box out in the street

What does check availability states? your exchange is enable but your
telephone line is too far

What now?
Get someone out here to check again?
Second Line install
Take BT to court to enforce an install
Confirm in writing what my measurments are for the line?

Help while I take another pill!

This is the clue. Get a different ISP. BT Broadband aren't that
marvellous anyway. Find an ISP (there are several) who will push the
order through, makig BT ignore the records.

Of course, it may still fail but at least you'll have tried.

Go to an ISP that will do a manual order. Most of the better ISP's do it.

Interesting concept though, taking a supplier to court to 'force' them to
sell you something that, going by problems inherent in your distance from
the exchange, could be fairly unreliable anyway......

Yes but my case would be based upon there being only shop in town. If
their was two local loops then no case! what do you think? .........

Good news at least from BT Wholesale....

"I have read your email and I can understand how frustrating this
situation must be for you. I am happy to confirm that a test can be
carried out on your line to ascertain the current noise level by
calling the BT Residential Faults
department. You can contact them by dialing 151 on any BT telephone
line or by
calling 0800 679 787"

Now just a case of getting BT to check the line. Already checked with
151 who says that the line is working clearly for voice data but
unable to give me a noise level reading. So question is whom do I talk
to now?
