HELP : BLUEZ on RedHat9.0

I've downloaded all the rpm to install BLUEZ
on my RedHat 9.0, to use a NORTEK USB-BlueTooth dongle,
all seemed to be OK, but my iPaq and my linux don't
find each other. I've installed also the
Bluetooth File Sharing by Edd Dumbill : it starts, but
if I try to connect Linux from iPaq, nothing happens.
What could have gone wrong ? Does someone knows if
it is indeed possible to run bluetooth on RedHat 9.0
without compiling the kernel (which I don't want to do ) ?

I'm no bluez guru, but I would suggest:

(1) What does "hciconfig -a" say on your computer?
If you get no response then bluez is not working.

(2) Assuming bluez is not working,
what does "service bluetooth restart" say?

(3) If bluez is working,
what does "hcitool scan" say?

You don't say what kernel you are running.
There have been a huge number of changes in bluez
in recent (2.6) kernels.
I doubt if it is worth going to a lot of trouble
with an earlier kernel.

I'm not running RH-9 now,
but I ran bluez with a USB dongle under RH-9,
and it worked fine.
However, I always compiled my own kernel.
