Hawking WI-FI Locater Info

Has anyone tried the locater? If you have, how good is it? I think the
one I bought is defective.

Haven't used the Hawking but have used the kensington. similar setup but the
Hawking looks a lot slicker with the flip open antenna. My main issue with
these devices is that only tell the strength of the signal, nothing else.
The one I use now (http://www.canarywireless.com/) tells you whether the
network is open, the name of the network, the strength & the channel. I like
to know if I have somewhat of a chance to access before I boot up my laptop.
So far its worked great though it is a battery hog.

The one I had was defective, Compusa exchanged it for one that works fine.
Now I get 5 bars
at my desk.
