Hello,

Is there a way to see wha has what files open, in Shared maps/opened files I
see only the file is open but I cant see by who

Running SBS Windows 2000 here

You can use Sysinternals' excellent Filemon utility for this. It's
still available for download from the Sysinternals web site at
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html, but following Mark
Russonivich's and Bryce Cogswell's move to Microsoft, the Sysinternals
tools also will make their way to MS in time.

Yes, you can view what files are open by using Computer Managerment (MMC) and
then Open Files in the Shared Folders hierarchy.

Also there;'s a very useful little utility called Share Monitor you can get
which shows you who is accessing which files in real time.

A couple of ways.

From a command prompt;
net sess
net files

Control Panel|Administrative Tools|Computer Management(local)\System
Tools\Shared Folders
Sessions, Open Files

Hello all,

For some obvious reason my Computer Management - Open files showed only the
names of the files, now I looked again the name of the user was there
again???

Servers have there own life . J

yes. their is a way. go to,,

Start > Administrative Controls > Shared Folders > Open Files

That should be able to see who has what open
