Has anyone opened up a Proxim Orinoco a/b/g Gold card?
I've seen a few things about people having to cut a small hole to
expose the antenna jack, or something similar.

Has anyone tried this, or know if there is a hidden jack in the 8480
model?

thanks

If you have one, post the FCC ID from the label. Then we probably can look
up inside pictures, at least.

In my new Gold b/g card, the antenna jack is protected by a very small
piece of rubber in the center of the end of hte card. It can be
removed with fingernails and no cutting is needed.

Gold cards I beleive feature the external antenna jack...and shouldn't
require anything obtuse to get to the jack.

Best Regards,

Here's a list of features, including which do and don't have external
antenna connections.

Orinoco Client Selection Guide

There are several models of Orinoco cards. Each of the data sheets
explain which has an external connector, and also list "RELATED PRODUCTS
AP-2500, AP-2000, AP-600, BG-2000 Range Extender Antenna (2.5 dBi)" where
appropriate. Watch out for your particular model number on the card,
probably 8420 or something similar.

The b/g gold has a connector, the a/b/g gold does not.

IC: 1856B-8460
FCCID: HZB-8460

I know the chance of there being an antenna in there is slim, but hey,
it's worth a shot.

Just wanna know if anyone has tried it before.

Here are the pictures filed with the FCC test report:

2830&native_or_pdf=pdf

I see the internal antennas, but I can't see any hidden connector for
anything external.
