Common, probably. That's because it is broadcasting at the same frequency
as the networking gear. You might try (1) change the LAN channel lower or
higher and (2) change the telephone channel to get it as far away from #1 as
you can. The other choice is to get a 5.8 gHz telephone for her. I use a
mixture of 5.8 and the 900 MHz cordless phones here without interference.
