Had to format hard drive

I just had to format my 5 year old laptop. I had microsofts wireless MN520
working great before. I installed Windows 98 (first edition - which I had
installed previous). The next thing I installed was the software for the
card. The laptop recognizes the base station (linksys BEFW1154) but it
won't connect to the internet. What am I missing in this fresh install of
Windows 98? I haven't even configured it for dial - up, as I thought I
would first get the networking completed first.
