On Wed, 13 Jul 2011, in the Usenet newsgroups comp.os.linux.networking
and comp.os.linux.setup, in articles p9e1f8-(E-Mail Removed)
and f8e1f8-(E-Mail Removed), JimR wrote:

Try the other c.o.l.* groups as well:

[compton ~]$ grep linux big.8.list.06.15.11 |cut -f1 | column
comp.os.linux.advocacy comp.os.linux.misc
comp.os.linux.alpha comp.os.linux.networking
comp.os.linux.announce comp.os.linux.portable
comp.os.linux.answers comp.os.linux.powerpc
comp.os.linux.development.apps comp.os.linux.security
comp.os.linux.development.system comp.os.linux.setup
comp.os.linux.embedded comp.os.linux.x
comp.os.linux.hardware comp.os.linux.xbox
[compton ~]$

"big.8.list" is the "List of Big Eight Newsgroups" published on the
15th of each month in the Usenet newsgroups news.announce.newgroups,
news.groups and news.lists.misc. A quick scan through the
alternative hierarchy (alt.os.linux.* and alt.linux.*) is somewhat
similar though a lot of people seem to prefer those groups that are
more specific to their favorite distribution.
