On a W2K3 server, I can set the Primary DNS Suffix in the Default
Domain Policy. (Computer Config/Admin Template/Network/DNS Client)

With an SBS server, how do you do this?

Thanks for your reply to both my threads. Sorry for the confusion --
I added the Option 15 thread at the same time you were answering my
question here.

I need to set the primary dns suffix because at least two client
computers are misconfigured with domainname.com instead of
domainname.local in Computer Name. As a result, they are repeatedly
trying to install their A and CNAME records in the authoritative dns
run by our ISP (and the ISP asked us to stop this traffic).
Certainly, I can manually reconfigure the two clients I know about but
I'd rather find a more general solution. I could easily accomplish
this with W2K3 but can you suggest a way to do it with SBS?

Misconfigured in the Computer Name? I think I'd call that joined to the
wrong domain. That comes from the domain they are joined to,..that isn't
something that is simply "configured".
Move them to a workgroup,..then rejoin them to the proper domain,...then do
what ever you have to do with SBS at that point to keep it happy.
