Imagine the US want to shoot a helfire missile or some such and how
useful gps coordinate precision would be? It might not have to be
an exploding missile, maybe they shoot microwaves or "ultrasonics" (lol)
at said position. Yes, everyone should broadcast their exact coordinates
for the states (tyranical) convenience (at all times).
Incidentally there was a story in one of the papers this week about how
the UK gov' is collecting satnav data from vehicular satnav use by the
general public. They know where you are if you use sat nav.
