GPRS Wireless Modem - Locked?

I recently purchased a NovaTel PCMCIA iStream GPRS Wireless Modem on
eBay for use with a local cellular provided who supports GPRS Wireless
Data.

I spend basically all day on the road, and mobile internet is becoming
more of an issue in order to keep on top of things. This provider has
an unlimited cellular intenet plan (using this card) for $50 per
month.

So, I grabbed the card, and then came to a realisation..

Is it possible that this card may be locked to a specific provider?
I know that with subsidized handsets, locking is commom, but with most
providers charging absurd amounts of money for these cards, I tend to
think that they're not really subsidized whatsoever...meaning perhaps
they're not locked?

I'm sure hoping that this is the case, otherwise I'm going to have
issues..

Anyone know if/how to go abouts getting a PCMCIA GPRS card unlocked,
if I need to in the end?

Thanks

Regards
Mark

Try posting on alt.cellular.gsm. Most of the GSM/GPRS folks are there.

On unlocking the SIM card, you need to post on alt.cellular.gsm or do a
google search.

Good luck.
