Dear All,

is there a Google Talk version also for Linux?
I am going to prepare an old computer for internet surfing, mail and Voip. I
didn't choose the distro yet, but the machine is a Pentium II, 400 MHz, with
few Ram.

Using windows, Skype has problem, but Google Talk is perfect.

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Kind regards,
Marc

You might want Tapioca [http://tapioca-voip.sourceforge.net/wiki/
index.php/Tapioca] it is based on libjingle so it can work with gtalk
accounts for voip stuff.

There doesn't seem to be a native linux version of Google Talk, but
perhaps it might work in wine:

http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=2398

Otherwise, Skype has a native linux client that seems to work fine:

http://www.skype.com/download/skype/linux/

Thanks John for your answer. I didn't try linux skype yet, but my experience
with windows is not very good, also using Skype-out.
Google Talk is lighter, few Mbyte only and it works perfectly! So it is a
"must" application for me.
Anyway, thanks again for your advice. When I'll be operative with linux, I
try skype.
Kind regards,
Marc

As far as I know it doesn't run in Wine yet, sorry.
