Google sends me to cPanel?

I am running Slackware 9.0 and have recently had something very
strange happen. Any time I send a web browser (Mozilla or Lynx) to
www.google.com, I get a screen regarding something called cPanel (some
sort of web server software, I believe) saying "There is no website
configured at this address." A reload of the page then brings up
Google as normal.

This actually started a while ago, but earlier, I would get a page
telling me that some piece of spy-ware had been installed on my
computer and I should follow the given steps to remove it. Of course,
I ignored this, as it pertained only to Windows.

A traceroute to www.google.com just gets past my campus network and
then sort of spins in place (printing out '*'s) until I tell it to
quit.

Anyone have any clues as to what's going on here?

Perhaps transparent proxying? Try "telnet www.google.com 80" and enter
HTTP commands manually. Try an nmap of www.google.com. Ask your school's
network administrator.

I had the same problem, solution:

Just delete this file:
C:\WINDOWS\Help\hosts

And maybe you also have to delete this file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
