Google mail blacklisted?

I've just tried sending an e-mail to my boss from a Google mail account
and it got bounced back with this error:

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 13): 550-Sending host is blacklisted at
combined.rbl.msrbl.net

Is it common for gmail to be blacklisted like this? I've not had this
problem before but it will be a big problem if e-mails I send are going
to get rejected!

Yes. It means that Google mail is widely used for spamming. SO much so this the
mail server now simply rejects anything originating from it.

Don't use gmail.

Yeah, I know that but I went to gmail because my Sky mail was being so
flaky. I was quite pleased when I heard that Sky mail was going to be
handled by Gmail but now I'm concerned that my Sky mail will be
operating from the same servers and have the same problems with
blacklisting.

What's you're problem ?

Do you seriously think you can get reliable mail from second and third rate providers
? Stop whining and move to a serious supplier.

Graham,

You seem to have a rather large chip on your shoulder with your continued
whining about whiners!

Stop bitchin' about whiners you nerd!

Are you some kind of 'pro-whiner' ?

The OP could use hotmail. I've never had a single problem with it.

So why not offer some constructive advice when it was asked for by the OP?

Most probably because you don't know what the answer is - so rather than
remain silent you have to whine about the OP!

He is correct of course. Google, Sky and other muppets actually censor
lots of mail themselves, though many people would never know mail is
missing. As such gmail is now being blacklisted itself, this ensures
the service is almost worthless as an email service.

Go for a decent provider of your own domain.

Something like daily.co.uk you get your own email name. Email in and
out (many others don't let you send mail) from about £2.59 for two
years! Cant go wrong.

My mail goes via two separate paths and arrives in pairs. It's a
simple even parity trick. I know immediately if any is missing.

There is never any missing from the Google path. Google do not censor
my email messages.

This is what I do for my 'serious' mail.
