Hello all --

Seeking input on a good low cost L3 switch that does VLAN routing and
supports 802.1x auth.

I prefern ot to spend 3 grand, sure you understand.

Considering you need an enterprise class switch (per your requirements) it's
going to cost you $$. Check out www.cisco.com www.foundry.com maybe HP's can
do it, not sure.

We have one from HP,...we have 10 grand wrapped up in it.
If I'm not confusing the model number, I think it is a 5304XL (it's in
another building and I'm too lazy to go look at the number right now). It
probably does "802.1x with Auth" but we don't run that. We just run normal
VLans, that's all I'm interested in.

If you are looking for cheap (I don't recommend this, you get get what you
pay for), find a cheap router and a cheap layer 2 switch, then have the
router do the inter-vlan routing. just make sure the cheap router
understands VLANs (802.1q).

Trendnet's TEG-S2600I reportedly uses 802.1x port-based authentication.
I doubt their documention and telephone support are impressive, but
then again you're looking for a bargain, right?
