Good ISP for newsgroups?

been looking round to transfer form Pipex - I'm very happy with their
them as an ISP, no download limits and fantastic newsgroups with a 50
day retention.... exept for the fact the newsgroups only are limited
to 10gig per month which is *highly* annoying since if I only update
header on my subscribed newsgroups that take up to a gig a month

what I am looking for is a
1) no download limits (below say 40gig a month anyway)
2) *either very cheap and no newsgroups
or
full selection of binary newgroups with good completion and a
reasonable retention (3 days)

Madasafish and Virgin used to be very good but that was several years
ago...

Freedom 2 surf look good but no idea if they have any newsgroups.

If you don't need binary access then http://news.individual.net/ is free and
a lot faster than Pipex.

If NG access is up to 10gb per month, then why is your use of 1gb a month a
problem?

If you'd read his post and added your reply after it, instead of top
posting, you would have seen that a full selection of binary groups is one
of his main requirements.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on Usenet and in e-mail?

Never had a problem getting what I need off Eclipse's newsgroups, which
are actually hosted by giganews. Binary retention measured in weeks,
text only measured in months (over 18 on some of them!!)

Only trouble is they limit nntp access to 2 concurrent connects, and
round about 256kbps (all other downloads unlimited)

He said just grabbing the headers for the groups he "reads" takes 1
gig a month, leaving him only 9 gig for actual downloads of
"articles". I know 9 gig of Usenet downloads a month is enough for
those of us who actually use Usenet for what it is best at, but 9 gig
isn't going to go far if you are a binary adict.

IMHO if you want a huge binary Usenet feed you should sign up with a
specialised Usenet provider.

If only we could turn the clock back and somehow stop the Usenet
binary madness before it began. Perhaps we could get a time machine
and a copy of the Bitorrent source and fix it

If you really want full blown unlimited bandwidth access to binary groups
then why not take out a private subscription to the full Giganews service?
That way you can then sign up with any bog standard ISP (preferably still
giving uncapped bandwidth) such as Pipex Then, when/if you get bored with
a particular ISP you can move to another and not care wether they provide a
news service - 'cos you have your own source!

Yeah I have always been of the opinion that usenet should be text only.
Just seems wrong.
