I'm with Zen for my sins, and I'm fed up with there Usenet service (or lack
of) so anyone know of a decent ISP that has decent news server and retention
longer then 24 hours and hopefully will take payments by cheque but will set
up DD if I have to.

Most ISPs are under the 30 pound mark these days. Have a look at ADSL
Guide (www.adslguide.org.uk) for comparisons of the different ISPs.

Much depends on what you mean by "decent news server". Many like PlusNet
for example have a news server that is fine for most text based groups -
but retention on the binary groups is poor. This seems to be the case
for most ISP bundled news servers.

Can't help with the payment, but I'm on pipex and have same problem, however
signed up to the computer center of Freie Universität Berlin, Germany news
server, its free, reliable, quick and posts appear instantly.

Registration takes upto a week, but its worth the wait
