Does it *have* to be wireless? The cheapest solution (assuming the laptop
has got an ethernet port) is to buy a cheap hub (probably 5-port, but
anything with 3 or more ports will do), connect the router to the hub rather
than to the computer, and connect both computers to the hub.
If he *really* wants to go wireless, he'll need a hub and a wireless access
point, plus a wireless card in the laptop. It would probably be cheaper to
throw away the existing router and get a wireless router - including a
built-in ADSL modem of course - instead.
