which isp is best to sign up with?


i need to network 2 pcs together how much does this cost and can we both use
broadband at the same time ?

Now that's a hard question. Personally, I use A&A, but the best ISP really
depends on which services you require. Other ISPs to consider IMO are Zen,
Nildram and plusnet. Best way to decide is to takw a look at the forums on
www.adslguide.org.uk, and compare the ISPs there.

This can be very cheap, but by far your best option is to purchase a ADSL
router/modem, and a network card for each PC. This will cost from about 60
upto about 200 depending on which router you purchase. Take a look at the
reviews on adslguide for a rundown of your options.

HOw long is a piece of string ? You will find a few hundred questions
of a similar nature, I expect, but looking at the comparison section of
www.ADSLguide.org might help you. Without knowing your main needs (you
might want a fixed IP, lots of webspace, a good news service...) how is
someone meant to know what your definition of 'good' includes ? I've a
number of friends on plusNet and I'm using them - I am happy with their
service, and they're not too costly either (21.99/month), but you can
also get 20:1 services ( http://tinyurl.com/8ib9 - the link gives me
a small discount if you sign up, on some account types).

A couple of network cards should cost under a tenner, from, say, Ebuyer
and a couple of cables around half that. A 4 port (they usually offer
1 port or 4 ports, even though you'd use 2) will probably cost under
50 quid (it depends what you need, blah, blah, sorry, but you could
spend a hundred or more on the router if you want to, I've gone for a
number of low cost items which seem perfectly adequate without many of
the 'bells and whistles' some people find necessary). Peter Morgan.
