What to go for?

Hi. This is my first post into this group but have been lurking for
some time trying to gain some knowledge but what are your observations
on my situation?

I am within 100 metres of my local exchange (I can see it's room from
my dwelling) so I believe that distance is not an issue. I have no
landline at the moment so that is the first item on my shopping list.
The exchange is Llanelli SWLJ.

Based on what is available here, what would be the best option for me
to go for? I do plan to get Sky installed within the next month and I
hear that they are one of the better ISP's.

Many thanks for any input.

Sky seem to be the best option for your area.

Thanks for your input and, yes, I realised as soon as I pressed the
"send" button that I should have added what I was going to use it for
but I let it run to see first responses.

Basically I'll be doing just the run-of-the-mill general surfing,
downloading music and films, uploading next-to-nothing. I won't be
doing any on-line gaming. Not sure what streaming is but at a guess,
would it have something to do with watching TV?

It does seem though that Sky will be the preferred option.

Any further input will be appreciated too.

You'll get laughed at on here if you go with Sky.

However... Do you have Sky TV? If you have then you can get their max
package for a tenner and living that close to the exchange (which is LLU
for Sky according to SamKnows) you should get very fast speeds unless
your line takes some bizarre route.

I'm on Sky with that package and I get 12Mb; I'm about 750m from the
exchange, dunno what route my lines take though but I'm happy with the
speed.

Downside? Customer service is useless. The wifi in the Sky-supplied
Netgear router failed and was only routing wired connections.
Conversation summary:

Me: my router wifi is screwed, it needs replacing
Sky: ok, we go through diagnostics. Can you click start and go into the
control panel
Me: It's Linux
Sky: We don't support that
Me: you don't get off that easy, I'll get my wife's Windows laptop
Sky: we go through diagnostics
..
..
Sky: Your laptop wifi card is faulty, you need to speak to your vendor
Me: that doesn't explain why the Linux laptop isn't working, it's not
the router
Sky: we don't support Linux
Me: <sigh> ok, why won't my Wii connect? Or my NDS? Or my son's Linux
Desktop machine? Or my mate's Windows laptop? Or my company laptop? Or
my dad's laptop? Or my Windows smartphone?
Sky: I'm sorry, you need to check with your hardware vendor
Me: so you're saying all this equipment suddenly went faulty on the same
day with the same problem?
Sky: you need to check with your vendor
Me: supervisor now please
Sky supervisor: the agent says the router is fine
Me: is it fuck, here's whats happening and I need a new router
Sky supervisor: (eventually) ok, here is a new router

Router turns up two days later, fuck me it all works properly again.
