To go Broadband now or to wait for better value, that is the question.

I am tossing up now to see what is the consensus of opinion as to which
Broadband offer should I take up, if any and whether I should move now
or wait until prices reduce further. I am presently on NTL £15 pm worth
of calls and free dialup service. I am tempted by Plus Net and its
£21.99 service.
Those of you who are reluctant to give an opinion please come down off
the fence and advise me please. I feel I simply stick with a slow dialup
system any longer.

Sorry, that last paragraph should read, "I simply cannot stick with a
slow dialup system any longer", sorry for my typographical error.

Take the plunge now. There is little scope for further significant price
reductions, but if there are then Plusnet (my ISP) are likely to pass on
such savings to its existing customers. There is NO point in waiting to
sign up. When you get it, you'll regret ever having hesitated.

Get it now, share it with a neighbour, wireless works for up to 100m trough
windows.
PlusNet has won two awards and is best value for money.
Mine hasn't missed a bit since May installation.
If you go with PlusNet use my 'jerryw' id as a referrer and save me few
pence, ta.
Regards,
Martin

Go for it now. Within days you'll wonder how you ever managed without it.
Plusnet works fine for me.

Rod.

It depends, of course, on how important the price is to you. I could
be wrong on this, but my suspicion is that the price won't come down
dramatically further than the PlusNet figure for quite a while -- maybe
a pound or two, but it'd surprise me if a reliable ISP dropped the
price of a 512K service to, say, £12 or £15/month.

Assuming you can find the £22/month without giving your kids rickets by
scrimping on their lunch-time fruit.....like the others say, it's got
to be a "go for it".

All depends on what your need for speed is the NTL deal is good for
ordinary internet use but if you like to play on line games like a ten
year old kid or download loads of pirated music then go for it.
Software does't come into the equation has you can download all the
software you will ever need in under three months with BB after which
its money down the drain every month .
Thanks Derrick for the reminder about the NTL deal I shall get onto
them today and get it ordered then I can get rid of our BB connection
and save twenty odd quid a month .I have been thinking of kicking BB
into touch for quite some time but could see no point has an 0800 24/7
connection is very nearly the price of BB thanks once again .
Grant .

Thank you all so much for coming down from the fence with positive
advice, much appreciated. I can now see the consensus is for PlusNet and
that's the way I will go.

Definitely not.

Yes, but surely Grant its about more than that, what about the ordinary
surfing which no longer takes time to do, the speed of email
downloading, (NTL just now is appalling), it all adds up to the everyday
use of the net taking much less time, being more pleasant to use etc.,
etc. On top of that you have the obvious advantages of sending and
receiving files, photos etc. music streaming and webcams etc. Until now
I had decided that I could no longer tolerate this awful slowness of
everything on the net, in many cases no mail coming through, (as in the
last few days), however, your well intentioned and kind words have
really made me go back to square one and think again.

Yes, there is no doubting that the dial up NTL deal is good, however,
the amount of time wasted trying to do ordinary business is huge, that
is when you add it all up.
>Grant .

If you want dialup, yes NTL represents good value but do we want the
ease of use and speed of BB, that is the question and where I started
out, you all tell me, you have read Grant's views, is he correct, should
I stay with my excellent value for money or "go for it".
