Category 5 cable is used for Ethernet networks running up to 100 Megabits
per second (Mbps).
Category 5E cable is used for Ethernet networks running up to 1000 Megabits
per second (1000Mbps) - Gigabit Ethernet.
Category 6 is the same as CAT5E but made to a higher cable-quality standard

Hi,
I want to replace my 100mbps switch to a gigabyte version.
Its for my server side only, I have 5 servers.
I have found dlink switch like DGS-1008D and DGS-1216T
but there is some other hardware on the market...
Also what type of cable is better?
CAT5E or CAT6?
Mabe I'll setup a new server has an iScsi target server.
in this case a switch which support jumbo frames could help me (?)
but has you can see, I'm looking for reasonable price / performance.
I prefer to focus on price instead-of top performance.
any comments?
thanks.
Jerome.
