What should one expect to get in terms of speed with gigabit ethernet
adapters in a server using the standard 1500 MTU size? I know this would
vary from environment to environment.

During a Windows 2003 copy from one server to another server we are seeing
speeds of no more than 230 MBps at the highest. Is this a limitation of
the windows 2003 copy? Should one see more throughput than this.

Hello Eric,

It is not only the network speed, you have also the bottleneck of the harddisk
with writing the data.

Yes, I know but this is happening on all of my server, some of my server
have the new SATA 3 GB drives which I know they are fast.

Do I need to make some registry changes in order to get more out of Windows
2003?

I found the following:
download.microsoft.com/download/2/8/0/2800a518-7ac6-4aac-bd85-74d2c52e1ec6/tuning.doc

I think I found the solution, I think I have to bump up the TCPwindowSize on
the server.

Is this a good idea to do?
