We recently installed a MS Small Business Server. Before that, we had a
bunch of laptops on a network, all of which were on a workgroup, and
everything worked fine. Now we've got one particular laptop that has a hard
time seeing other things on the network: it can see shared documents
directories intermittently, and other laptops can't see its shared docs
directory at all. It can't see the SMTP server on the small biz server.

My thought was that I'd have to have it join the domain. Trouble is, that
particular box is running XP Home, and I don't see the same menu options as
I do on the XP Professional boxes. How can I get an XP Home box join a
domain? Or is it really necessary?

It can't join the domain. Can you not upgrade it to Pro? If it is supposed
to be a workstation on your company's network, it should probably be on the
domain...XP Home cannot.
