getting IE to access internet via network

I have 2 computers connected via ethernet cards and a X over cable, I have
showing up on the host PC1 computer, my DSL modem which tells me it is
shared, I have a local area connection( ethernet card? )which is enabled it
does not show shared.
On the other computer PC2 , I have local area connection which is enabled ,
I have network bridge which is showing enabled.A 1394 connection which is
showing enabled.
The local area connection and the network bridge are all showing packets
sent and received , the 1394 connection is showing zero.
The Icon for the Modem on PC1 is showing on the taskbar on PC2.

I wish to access the internet from PC 2 how do I configure Intenet Explorer
as it just shows page unavailable off line.

A couple of hints, such as what OS you're using and what sort of IP
address assignment you have on the LAN, wouldn't go amiss. Are you using
proxy or routing software? How about firewalls?

Unless he's using a Windows version that has ICS, or routing software.

Except that some setups will only work if you use DHCP.

OOps Windows XP home edition on both Windows IE, I have tried both routing
and proxy,
IP addresses are as per instructions TCP/ IP pc1 ip 192.168.0.1 sub net
mask 255.255.255.0
pc2 ip
192.168.0.1 sub net mask 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.186.0.1 preferred
dns 192.168.0.1.
proxy 192.168.0.1 port 6588.

Because it's pretty? Because Micro$oft says so? Because you don't get
much choice if you buy a new PC these days? Because it's actually

freely downloadable? Because you want to justify upgrading your old PC

So both PC's have the same IP? This will make problems won't it? Also, the
gateway IP seems to be skewed, is that your typing or is that a problem
there too?

Are you using ICS?

Firewall?

NIC X over cable Win XP.

Kinda like a newer W2K, yes, one that will run the software that expects
to run on nothing less than XP.

Yes, that's my experience too. I eventually trashed it because I got cheesed
off with having to find new drivers for absolutely every piece of hardware I
own.

Felt like it anyway.
