I am trying to get a d-link air 16bit pcmcia card to work on my linux
laptop. I'm running an old 2.2.19 kernel from debian potato distro, and the
latest pcmcia-cs from the source off their website (3.2.7). This setup
works with my pcmcia ethernet adapter and modem but the wireless just gives
a low pitched beep when inserted.
The "cardctl ident" command gives this info:

D-Link DWL-650 Wirless PC Card RevP
ISL3710P-10
A3
manfid 0x000b 0x7110

There is an entry in my /etc/pcmcia/config that is similar:

card "D-Link DWL-650"
version "D" "Link DWL-650 11Mps WLAN card"
bind orinoco_cs

I tried commenting out the version line and replacing it with a manfid line
with the apropriate IDs and got a kernel oops.

Any ideas?

1) Try "prism2" driver.

2) Verify that it is an OLDER 650. DLINK is one of those BRAIN-DEAD companies
that released different versions with different chipsets under the same model
numbers. You may have a different, incompatible chipset.
