Hello,

I've got a Dell Windows 2000 server and about 50 client computers (from
various manufacturers, but mainly Dell and Toshiba) running anything from
Win 98 to XP Pro. Is there a way I can get the following info about each
client from the server:

OS
RAM
Processor type and speed
Hard drive size
(for the Dell machines, I'd love to get the service tag too if possible)

Or am I going to have to go around to each client and get all the info by
hand? TIA.

Mark

Mark,

Use an auditing tool such as Gasp or Centinnial Discovery. Gasp gives
very good hardware reports but I am not sure if it can find the service
tag.

Dell has a product called openmanage. The IT assistant portion will
find the service tag for you.

Mark,

Try running Belarc advisor. I beleive it will give you all the information
you are looking for and then some more. I use it at work and it works fine
for me. And the tool is free
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Good luck,

Joe H
