You pay your normal line rental to BT per normal, but you can sign up
with any ISP you choose.

Pipex, Nildram and Zen seem to be mentioned regularly as good ISPs
overall (i`m with Pipex) - they`re usually cheaper too.

www.adslguide.org might give you a few more pointers

Best thing to do is trawl

This will probably tell you everything, and more, that you could wish to
know. In general you read the reviews, the complaints, the complements, the
recommendations in the public forums and then pick the ISP that you thinks
best suits you, pay them and a week or so later you should have ADSL.

Suggestions, steer clear of Freeserve, AOL and BT; which I am sure others
will back me up on. Although I have a slight biased opinion as I work for a
'un-named' ISP, if you ever plan to migrate or have any
flexibility/relibility with your ADSL connection the above three are going to
give you a hard time; BT are fine for migrations though.

In summary really you find the ISP you want and sign up as if it was a dialup
account, just takes longer for the account to become active

Regards

Alex

Once your exchange has been enabled with ADSL, you can sign up with any ISP
you care to use.

Go to this site for some useful beginners info & reviews of ISPs and
hardware.

N.B. I did notice this link in the previous message but the .uk was missing,
so the link wouldn't work.

It works for me without the .uk at the end (on Pipex)
