Hi,

I have two PCs on a network sharing my Broadband via a 1 port router and
network hub

I want to be able to share files and the printer, but when I confirger the
LAN, it knocks out my B.B.

The IPs are: 192.168.0.1 & .2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Workgroup: home
1 PC is XP Home and the other is Windows ME.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

The gateway to the internet?

Router = 192.168.0.1
PC1 = 192.168.0.2, gateway 192.168.0.1
PC2 = 192.168.0.3, gateway 192.168.0.1

But what do you mean by "knocks out my B.B."?

I think you need the router and the PCs to be on the same subnet. If the
router is 192.168.1.2 perhaps you can make the PCs 192.168.1.3 and
192.168.1.4?

Maybe the news server has rules which mean meaningless 'names' are treated as
being posts from spammers and automatically deleted. Presumably the poster
has used other newsgroups, but may be unaware of others never seeing posts
is such a rule is/can be applied... After all, only seeing a quoted item
made you aware of it (unless it has now turned up). It came in OK on PN
